Mumbai: Mumbai Activist Medha Patkar addresses protestors at Mumbai Bagh” – slams CM Uddhav Thackeray for deploying police force – Read detailed story here
Mumbai: Mumbai Activist Medha Patkar while addressing protestors at the “Mumbai Bagh” in Nagpada on Tuesday asserted that the Maharashtra government was feeling fear of protesters at ‘Mumbai Bagh’ in Nagpada, which is precisely why the government called for the police force to put an end to the protest.
She said that had the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray taken a firm stand on CAA, NRC and NPR, where was the need for the interference by the police force?
Medha persuaded people from across the parts of the city to visit the protest site, christened as “Mumbai Bagh” in lines of Delhi’s “Shaheen Bagh” by locals and media to express their mutual support.
Referring to the Aam Aadmi Party’s landslide victory in the Delhi elections, Patkar said people there had given a mandate for development and rejected communal politics. In Delhi, the BJP attempted to exhibit Shaheen Bagh in a bad light, but it proved abortive, she added. Hundreds of women have been on a sit-in protest at Morland Road in Nagpada since January 26.
Meanwhile the Nagpada police have started issuing notices to them under provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure
