Mumbai: ‘ Congress- NCP’ not in favour of NPR in Maharashtra – Sharad Pawar

Mumbai: Following the successfull MahaMorcha at Azad Maidan Mumbai organised by National Alliance against CAA-NRC-NPR’, a delegation on Tuesday met Shri Sharad Pawar, the National President of NCP and also an alliance party of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

The delegation shared their concerns about CAA-NRC-NPR and handed over a memorandum demanding non- implementation of NPR & NRC in Maharashtra and to withdraw notices and criminal cases against peaceful protesters and abolish CAA.

Maulana Athar Sahab (Co – Convener of Alliance against NRC CAA, NPR, demanded non-implementation.of NPR in Maharashtra..They requested support for the same in the light of unrest and sense of fear among masses which was expressed through MahaMorcha on Saturday 15th February 2020 at Azad Maidan.

On a query by Farid Shaikh, Shri Sharad Pawar said that Congress and NCP are against CAA and have voted against it in the Parliament.

He assured that both Congress and NCP are not in favour of implementing NPR in Maharashtra and also asked the alliance to have a discussion and meeting with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackrey, said Hasib Bhatkar Co Convenor of Alliance.

Mr Rakesh Rathod, OBC leader, demanded that the census should be conducted on ‘caste based’ basis which is a long pending demand of OBC in Maharashtra and will benefit them in a big way.

Activist Ms Teesta Setlavad emphasized the fact that it will affect all the communities and will put heavy financial burden on state coffer.

Farid Shaikh, Maulana Athar, Adv. Rakesh Rathod, Teesta Setalvad,Dr. Salim Khan, Hasib Bhatkar, Maulana Ejaz Kashmiri, Sachin Ingle were part of the delegation.
