Mumbai: Mumbai Police on early Sunday morning arrested 66 people for trying to leave city amid Central Govt’s National Lockdown due to Coronavirus Pandemic.
An FIR 358/20 has been registered against them at the Sakinaka Police Station under sections 198, 269, 270 and 34 of IPC and 51(B) of Disaster Act. Police has further, added sections 3, 4 and 5 of Maharashtra Prohibition Act as well as 66 (1) r/w 192 of Motor Vehicles Act on all the arrested accused.
It’s not only in Mumbai,but in other parts of Maharashtra, notwithstanding the lockdown that took buses off the road and trains off the track, many migrant labourers were on their way home, with risk as borders have been sealed with the vigilant policemen, given the task to ensure that people don’t leave their homes except for most pressing need and in case of emergency.
