Mumbai: Amid the Covid-19 induced lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus, Lion Suresh Jain, District Mayor of Lions international Club 323( A1), shared the team’s experience and work amid lockdown.
Speaking to Hello Mumbai News Team, he said “we went to distribute food to the daily wagers, migrant labourers and homeless people who were without a roof over their head. So, we set up a relief camp at Wilson School. This was all done following discussions with Mumbai, Senior Inspector of Police of VP Road police station Mr More, and DCP Rajeev Jain. They passed on instructions and permitted for the stay of the people. This had to be initiated so that these people don’t take to the streets and stay comfortably in a safe haven. About 150 people have been given shelter in the school for one month and 25 days.The Trustee of the school gave due assistance.
Furthermore, In the morning they gave Snacks, at 12 pm gave food and also in the evening and at 4 pm tea and biscuits. Reliance donated food for the afternoon and night. In the morning at 8.00 am they allotted puri and aloo bhaji, alike Bisleri water provided. Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner their private endeavor. People who were appearing to take supplies have maintained social distancing, had masks for instance to take Chai and biscuits. They commenced this drive after fewer days of lockdown. Their team of nearly 10 people who looked after the arrangement.
Moreover, he said, The BMC schools and others if these people have shifted, so fewer people would be found on roads. And in this pandemic, this project took place by their accomplishments. The people who are laboring in a specific area, if procured aspects there so they will not move toward the outside, Like the way people reached Bandra, the problems of migrants will be sorted. And secondly, the people who stay in the Chaal system, flats similarly face various troubles like food, as when their salary will come, Rashan is also given to the BPL people, people who have not linked their Adhaar card, and other things are not getting facility. The government should do it free by just carrying the Rashan Card. Laborers, workers wherever they are in that niche they should get food, Scattered laborers should get food grains by the government it is the urge said by Sharad Petiwala in the earlier phase of the lockdown, (team member).
Likewise, he said, with the assistance and guidance of Zone 2 DCP Rajeev Jain, he did the work and has not brought any help from others.
This initiative was unique as not accomplished in Mumbai by anyone and most importantly, the people they kept have not a sole person got impacted by this virus and also felt safe to stay there.
The classrooms got organized into rooms and 10 people in one room, They have put on essential items like Mattes, pillows, etc. And food and such work helped these people. Has similarly distributed masks, food to several people.
