To celebrate “Maitri Diwas” 2021, and to commemorate the 50 years of India-Bangladesh Friendship, High Commissioner Of India in UK H.E.Gaitri Issar Kumar and High Commissioner Of Bangladesh to UK H.E Saida Muna Tasneem jointly held a grand reception at the Westminister Ball Room, Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London on 6 December.
The celebration of Maitri Diwas is a reflection of the deep and abiding friendship between the peoples of India and Bangladesh that has been forged in blood and shared sacrifices.
The “Maitri Diwas” is celebrated to mark India’s role in the neighbouring nation’s freedom struggle.

The 50-years also marks India becoming the first country to recognise the birth of a brand-new nation in its eastern border. .
Notably the decision to mark Maitri Divas was taken by the two prime ministers, during Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka in March this year.
