Peace March , 8 July 2023
Pune Diocese , Peace loving Christians and People of All Religions organized a Peace March on Saturday 8th July 2023 at 10 am.
This silent walk was held to show solidarity with the people who are suffering due to unrest and riots in Manipur and other states of the country.
This Peace March started with a meeting at Ornellas High School, Nanapeth and singing of Sane Guruji’s poem Khara To Ekchi Dharma.
The main purpose of this peace march was to promote peace and harmony in the society as there is unrest and violence in some parts of our country. The newly appointed Bishop of Pune Diocese Rev. John Rodrigues in his message said that we should promote peace and live in harmony without habouring anger and hatred.
The former bishop Rt. Rev. Thomas Dabare said that this is a silent march to stop the spread of violence immediately. People’s houses, places of worship, people are being burnt in Manipur, women are becoming widows, children are becoming orphans, people are becoming homeless.
This peaceful march of people from different walks of life was organized to appeal to people to live peacefully and resolve their disputes and differences through dialogue and reconciliation. Peace is the fruit of prayer and spirituality. Therefore, through this Peace March, we are inviting every peace loving citizen of India to spread peace and harmony throughout the country. The March started from Ornellas High School, Nanapeth and reached the Collectorate in a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere.
Newly appointed Bishop of Pune Diocese Rev. Bishop John Rodrigues and Vicar General of Pune Diocese, Fr. Malcolm Sequeira,Fr. Bhausaheb Sansare, Fr. Stanley, the Director of the Christian Youth Organization, Fr. Pravin Pawar, Principal – Ornellas High school, priests of Silo Malabara and Marthoma Church, priests and religious sisters of Pune diocese organized today’s peace walk. Prashant Kedari, Fabian Samson, Darryl Cardoza, Sister Flory of Hope Centre, Pramod Pardhe, Silo Malabara, Marthoma Church members, Pune Diocese Priests and Nuns, members from all churches and schools participated in this rally.
In front of the Collector’s Office, the song ‘Hich Amuchi Prarthana An Hechi Amuche Magane’ was sung, after which Sister Lizzy of Shanti Ashram read the statement to be given to the Collector by the Pune Diocese, Sister Darshana moderated the entire peace rally. The peace rally concluded on a peaceful note with the song Hum Honge Kamiyab.
