Ex MLA Krishna Hegde has written both to CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis and  Mumbai Police Commisioner regarding the numerous cases and daily calls received by helpless victims from fake cyber police/CBI officials who are placing unsuspecting persons under cyber arrest and terrorising them and also extorting from them of huge amounts of money.

“These fake calls come from Indian Post, DHL claiming they have received a package , then a gang of fake CBI, Custom and Police officers take over and traumatise , terrorise and blackmail a person and extort huge amounts of money.

Several persons have fallen victim to these scamsters.

Similar calls are also being received from electricity dept and other government agencies who either asking for payments and also asking for OTPs ,said Hegde.

Hegde has asked the CM to direct the Police to crackdown on such dangerous elements to pre-empt these incidents.

He has even provided cells nos and other details of one of the callers to a terrorised person for investigation.

“They claim to have apprehended a package containing banned substances, scare people into isolation and place them under digital arrest and extort huge sums.”

The victims mainly women fall for these traps and are mentally traumatised.

Similarly, several scamsters and Ponzi scheme operators like Bliss Consultants , Goodwin Jewellers , Ambar Dalal and Torres Jewellers have recently cheated thousands of investors. “ Hegde added.
