Fake CTS maps used in construction; SIT report triggers intensified action across Malad region
Mumbai, Malad:
In a sweeping anti-encroachment drive, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday morning demolished four illegal structures in Manori — including the prominent Jeneva Resort. The action was carried out by the P/North ward of BMC after it was revealed that the structures were built using forged documents based on tampered CTS (City Survey Number) maps.
The demolished structures include a 7,000 sq. ft. resort, a 2,300 sq. ft. bungalow, and two smaller houses measuring 150 sq. ft. each. A team of 10 BMC workers, along with two JCB machines, carried out the demolition within a few hours.
Swift Morning Operation
Led by Sub-Engineer Suhas Gholap, the BMC team arrived early morning with bulldozers and a pokelane machine, flattening the illegal resort structures in no time. According to Assistant Commissioner Kundan Valvi, the entire property was based on falsified CTS maps, a fact that emerged during the SIT’s probe into land irregularities in the region.
103 Illegal Constructions Under Scanner
Assistant commissioner Kundan Valvi revealed that the crackdown is part of a larger ongoing operation across the Malad region — covering Madh Island, Aksa Beach, Marve, and Manori — where 103 such structures have been identified. These were reportedly built using manipulated CTS data, and a detailed SIT investigation has confirmed widespread misuse.
Aggressive Demolition Drive Underway
The demolition operation was executed under the supervision of Executive Engineer Sagar Rane, Assistant Engineer Rajesh Sunawane, Sub-Engineer Suhas Gholap, and Parveen Muluk. The team has been tasked with clearing all 103 illegal structures in the coming weeks, as part of the intensified enforcement initiative.

Crackdown Sends Clear Message
This BMC action serves as a stern warning to those indulging in unauthorized construction using forged land documents. It also reinforces the civic body’s commitment to upholding urban planning laws and curbing illegal real estate developments.
