Hello Mumbai Business Desk
The 56th meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has approved the reforms that were announced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 15th August 2025. These reforms are being considered landmark as they focus on providing major relief to the common man of India by reducing the tax burden on essential goods and services, simplifying compliance for businesses, and promoting overall economic growth.

GST reforms announced by the Hon. Finance Minister @Nirmala Sitharaman, guided by the vision of the Hon. Prime Minister @Narendra Modi, will bring meaningful relief across everyday life.
Lower GST on cement, tiles, and marble reduces construction costs, easing the path for families building or improving their homes. Reduced rates on two-wheelers and small cars make mobility more affordable. With life and health insurance now GST-free, financial protection becomes easier to access. And consumer durables-a vital part of modern living-will benefit both from direct rate cuts and from the extra savings households retain on essentials.
