MUMBAI — In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Maharashtra state government has announced the transfer of 11 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to various key departments. Among the notable appointments, Pankaj Deore (IAS: 2016) has been posted as the new Secretary of the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) in Mumbai.

Deore, who previously served as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), takes over the role from Laxman Raut (IAS: 2015). Mr. Raut has been moved to lead the Maharashtra State Khadi Village Industries Board as its Chief Executive Officer.

Focus on Child Welfare

The MSCPCR is a statutory body tasked with ensuring that all laws, policies, and administrative mechanisms in the state align with the rights of children as enshrined in the Constitution of India. Deore’s appointment comes at a time when the state is looking to strengthen its social sector initiatives. Officials suggest that his transition to the commission is aimed at bringing fresh momentum to child welfare programs and improving the efficiency of grievance redressal mechanisms.
