Mumbai Police Deploy Over 17,000 Personnel for Ganesh Festival 2026 Security

Mumbai: With the Ganesh Festival 2026 celebrations set to draw large crowds across Mumbai, the Mumbai Police have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that citizens can celebrate Ganeshotsav safely and peacefully.
As part of the security deployment, at least 7 Additional Commissioners of Police, 37 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 52 Assistant Commissioners of Police, along with 2,650 police officers and 14,150 police personnel, have been deployed across the city during the festival period.
The police have also made additional security arrangements at important and sensitive locations. These include deployments of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) platoons, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Riot Control Teams and Home Guards.
Special security arrangements have been planned for Ganesh idol immersion day, when large numbers of devotees are expected to gather at various immersion points across Mumbai. Additional police personnel will be deployed to manage crowds, maintain law and order and ensure the smooth conduct of the immersion process.
The Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to remain alert and exercise restraint, particularly at crowded places, and to cooperate with police personnel during the celebrations.
Citizens have also been advised to immediately inform the police if they notice any unattended or suspicious object in their surroundings.

The Mumbai Police have urged citizens to celebrate Ganeshotsav responsibly and help maintain a safe and peaceful atmosphere across the city.
