NEW DELHI — The Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, has officially announced the empanelment of 50 Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers for promotion to the grade of Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT).
The promotion, which applies to Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, is designated for the Panel Year 2026. The order, issued from Kartavya Bhavan on February 10, 2026, marks a significant reinforcement of the senior leadership within the Department of Revenue.
Strategic Impact on Tax Administration
This mass empanelment is seen as a strategic move to streamline tax administration and enhance revenue collection oversight across the country. By filling 50 Commissioner-level positions, the Government of India aims to provide stable leadership in various regional charges and specialized units.
