 Corporator Shri. Upendra Sawant of Shiv Sena is the elected Municipal Councillor (Corporator)-Ward No.118 since 2017. His constituency covers Kannamwar Nagar & Tagore Nagar. In an interview to Reporter Nasir Pipulkar he gave detailed information of the work done by him in the last one year in his ward.

• Renovation done of road from New Police Station to Old Police Station at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of road and footpath from bldg. No. 99-102 at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of road from bldg. No. 153 at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of road from Bldg. No. 78-80 (In front of Adarsh Hotel) at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of road and gutter at outer circle of Sambhaji Raje Maidan at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of road and gutter fom Vitthal Chowk to Abhay International School at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Footpath flooring work done from Bldg. No. 180-188 at Kannamwar Nagar.

• New light pole fitted at Sambhaji Raje Maidan in Senior Citizens garden at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Leakage due to rains at Mahatma Phule Hospital in Kannamwar Nagar was stopped by calling the concerned officer of BMC.
• Along with Market, Garden Committee Chairman Mrs. Sanvi Tandel all gardens were inspected.
• Naming proposal of three gardens submitted

1. BMC garden plot no.5 in front of bldg. no. 66 at Kannamwar Nagar.
2. Garden next to Madhyamik Vidyalaya School at Kannamwar Nagar.
3. Garden in front of bldg. no. 16 at Tagore Nagar.

• Beautification work done of BMC garden plot no. 5 in front of bldg. no. 66 at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of Swaminarayan garden at Tagore Nagar.
• Beautification work done of Priyadarshini garden at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Makeover done of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Maidan, next to Sandesh Vidyalaya at Tagore Nagar.
• The Water Pipeline in front of Bldg. No. 254 in Kannamwar Nagar was burst. The Corporator stood there the whole night and got it repaired in his presence.
• The traffic issues of Vikhroli Kannamwar Nagar-2, Janta Market was addressed to Traffic Senior Police Inspector Kaygude.
• There was power failure of electricity frequently in Kannamwar Nagar. The Corporator visited Reliance Office at Tilak Nagar, Chembur and reprimanded the officials.
• The foul smell of Kanjur Dumping Ground had started again. The Corporator visited their urgently and told to do the processing and stop the foul smell.
• For renovation of Mahatma Phule Hospital in Kannamwar Nagar, Correspondence was done with the Standing Committee Chairman Shri. Ramesh Korgaonkar and meetings were held.
• Considering the growing breeding of Mosquitoes. Fumigation is done regularly in the colony and garden areas.
• Started new reading place in front of Gurkha Hall at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Started new reading place in front of Bldg. No. 163 at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Gutter repairing and flooring work done at Shiv Chhaya Rahivashi Sangh at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation done of gutter in front of bldg. no. 28-36, Hire Marg at Tagore Nagar.
• Renovation done of gutter in front of bldg. no. 8-18, Swaminarayan Marg at Tagore Nagar.
• New gutter repairing and footpath work done at Jay Bhim Nagar 1,2 at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Through Municipal Corporation garbage boxes were distributed in the ward.
• Toilet repair work started at Tagore Nagar Group No. 2, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar slum.
• New tap Connection was given to Sai Shraddha Rahivashi Sangh at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Pending road work of Sai Shraddha Rahivashi Sangh (Dajiwada) was completed at Kannamwar Nagar.
• Renovation of internal roads and gardens proposals submitted.

Future Plans of Corporator Shri. Upenra Sawant for the Betterment of his Ward

• Currently only ICU facility is available at Mahatma Phule Hospital in kannamwar Nagar. He wants to put 10 Pota Cabins, Shed and start OPD facility at the earliest at Mahatma Phule Hospital before demolishing the Hospital building.
• He further plans to make Mahatma Phule hospital a 10 floors building with modern equipments and better facilities which will be affordable to local residents.
• Sambhaji Raje Maidan and Ravindranath Tagore Garden renovation work will start after rainy season.
• He plans renovation of all gardens. Procedure is going on with the concerned authorities.
• He plans Completion of Swimming Pool work at Tagore Nagar, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Maidan.
• Swimming Pool planned near Kamgar Kalyan Bhavan at Kannamwar Nagar.
• He plans to make a cemetery for Hindus in the Eastern side of the Highway near Kannamwar Nagar.
• He plans to make beautiful gardens below Eastern Express highway Flyover.

Corporator Shri. Upendra Sawant wants his ward to be cleaner, greener with better facilities for the residents.
