*Republic day celebrated in JK*

The Republic Day celebrations in Srinagar passed off peacefully without any untoward incident reported in the valley.

In Jammu Governor Satya Pal Malik hoisted the tricolour. Large number of people witnessed the function. In Srinagar Advisor of Governor Khursheed Ganie hoisted the National flag at Bakshi Stadium amid a three-tier-security cover.

Contingents from the J-K Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) took part in the parade.

separatist groups had called for a shutdown and asked people to stay away from the Republic Day celebrations.

In Pulwama Deputy Commissioner Pulwama GM Dar hoisted the National flag.

Journalists Protests in Srinagar :

Journalists in Srinagar take out protest rally against government for disallowing them to cover Republic day function. Several journalists issued passes and later asked to leave the venue, some haven’t even been issued passes.
