Mumbai: In a shocker on Friday evening, Worli area was a witness to an incident of a speeding BMW with a woman Namita Bhatija(39) lost control and rammed her vehicle into the divider. On board the BMW vehicle were her infant daughter 6 month old Nishika, Mother Bhawna Bhatija (55), aunt Juhi Gurunani (52).The impact of the incident was so intense that Namita with her infant daughter Nishika, mother Bhawna Bhatija and aunt Juhi Deepak Gurnani got seriously Injured.

Locals immediately stopped an ambulance that was behind the ill-fated BMW and rushed all the injured persons to nearby Jaslok Hospital.

Doctors at Jaslok Hospital declared Nishika, Bhavna, and Juhi dead on arrival. Although Namita survived the crash, her condition is still critical.

When Namita was passing Mela Restaurant Junction near Poonam Chambers on Madraswadi, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Road, Worli, she failed to spot a speed breaker and rammed her speeding BMW into a cement divider.

A brief on Namita Chand:

Namita is a resident of Royal Classic Apartments in Andheri West. Her husband Sonal Chand is a pilot and was in Turkey when the mishap took place. He has been notified and is on his way back to the city.

Namita’s mother Bhavna, a resident of Viman Nagar in Pune, had come to the city a few days back to help with the newborn. They had picked up Juhi from her Worli apartment yesterday before the fateful incident.

Worli Police have seized the vehicle and filed an accidental death report in the matter. Although Namita has not been booked as of publishing this report, officials say that she may be charged with rash/negligent driving and causing death of others.
Further investigation is underway.
