Mumbai: Vinay Dubey, resident of Airoli in Navi Mumbai, and a native of UP, is being accused of inciting Tuesday’s gathering of thousands of migrants at Bandra to demand passage back home in total violation of Covid-19 social distancing norms.
He has been arrested and has been remanded to police custody till April 21st.
He has been booked under Section 188 (disobedience to duly promulgated order by a government servant) of IPC and also under the Epidemic Act.
He is also involved in video posting on social media ‘”Chalo Ghar ki ore’
In the video he had said that through the government he has made arrangements for vehicle so that they can return home.
Vinay Dubey is an active social worker and who had protested against the implementation of CAA NRC.
Given that Covid-19 is an extremely infectious disease, the gathering on Tuesday was seen as constituting a major transmission hazard.
