Mumbai: The two back-to-back extension of Lockdown has virtually paralysed the financial capital Mumbai with all activities having come to a grinding halt.

The pandemic has impacted to a large extent and placed one and all in a delirious situation.

With spike in cases escalating each day there are hardly any space in hospitals and patients are literally thrown on the ground due to non-availability of adequate beds.
Pathetically, with no beds available OPD patients were accomodated underneath the Hindmata, Dadar flyover.

To throw light into this matter, Hello Mumbai News Correspondent Ayushi Kedia, took the opportunity to interact with Anil Parab, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab,to get his views straight in the matter.

Sharing his views with Ayushi Kedia Anil Parab affirmed that the virus is catching up at a fast pace and unfortunately there aren’t enough beds in hospitals.

Nevertheless, he has made arrangements for more accomodation of beds in Cooper Hospital.
He also cited that in some area or the other people are dying of hunger due to the virus attack.

The attack of the virus has been so abrupt, that in just under 4 hours people got locked in their houses without knowing the next scenario. Nothing could be planned, and there has been no availability of doctors and equipment.

Hence, it has become a difficult situation to the management to provide facilities like food, ambulances, and other required sources in hospitals.

The Minister also said that he has been viewing the daily rise in the number of cases. Just.two days ago, he reviewed the status of Cooper Hospital, and reached to a conclusion that the hospital can still accommodate more operational beds by around 180 in order to accommodate the maximum number of patients for both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients.

The Cooper Hospital management agreed for this move. Hence in a couple of days, he would try to provide beds to Cooper hospital. Besides Cooper Hospital, he is also trying to increase the number of beds in seven other hospitals too, to not to let people suffer because of these basic facilities.
In BKC he arranged for 1000 beds and he plans to make it available in Dahisar Hospital also.
Further, he said, the reason behind the higher number of cases in Mumbai is because of dense population and congestion in slums.

Over and above, the infection is spreading from the public washroom in slum areas as the single washroom is used by 7-8 families.
An excellent sign has been observed from Dharavi. As of now, the rate of cases of COVID-19 are doubling in the slum.

Last but not the least, he needs to tell everyone to remain home. The government is trying its best to come out of this situation by considering every poor people, migrant laborers by providing food and proper grocery kits.As of now he has provided food 3 times meal in a day to 6 lakhs people.

He also proudly said that he has shifted 3.5 lakh migrant workers to the border of their states by government buses. He warns not to afraid or get panic. We can only fight if the entire country unites to win the battle against the war waged by Coronavirus pandemic.
