What Inspired to start your Business.
Rakhi Singh :
Living in the UK has been an enriching journey for me, one that has deepened my appreciation for my Indian heritage in countless ways. I’ve found myself drawn even closer to my roots, my love for India flourishing with each passing day. It’s a profound pride that fills me, knowing
where I come from and cherishing the rich tapestry of traditions and customs that define my heritage.
In this melting pot of cultures, I’ve come to recognise the importance of passing on this cultural legacy, especially to the younger generation. Thus, I embarked on a journey to create a bridge between the two worlds, starting my own publication dedicated to educating children about our
culture and festivals. Through books tailored for young minds, I strive to instill a sense of pride and understanding of our roots.
But my passion for writing extends beyond the boundaries of my publication. As a freelance writer, I have the privilege of lending my voice to various platforms, spreading the essence of our culture far and wide through my articles.
Moreover, I find immense joy in nurturing budding authors, guiding them through the intricate process of publishing and marketing their books.
In addition to my endeavors in writing, I’ve also ventured into the realm of digital media, founding 5th Peak Media. Here, I collaborate with women-led businesses, charity organisations, and SMEs, leveraging the power of digital platforms to amplify their voices and missions. It’s a

What Challenges have you faced as a Woman Entrepreneur and how did you overcome
Rakhi Singh :
Life is full of challenges. As a woman entrepreneur there are endless things to juggle. First of all, self-confidence and self-belief is the biggest step to take forward. I was procrastinating for a long time, thinking whether I should go ahead in my author journey or not. I knew nothing about
this field, the process, the system, the technicalities – everything was brand new for me. I read a lot on the internet, did my own research for many months, watched endless tutorials and videos, joined author and publishing groups to understand the nuances of the industry. After getting
some know-how of the field, I enrolled myself on a course about writing children’s books.Coming from a creative background, it was easier for me to do the storyboarding, character development, illustrations and aesthetics along with all the learnings from the course. But still, it
took a few books to understand the full cycle from ideation to execution to production. Now, I have more than 50 books in fiction and non-fiction with 6 best sellers in multiple categories and
multiple times on Amazon.

Tell Something about your Brand and how people can benefit from it.
Rakhi Singh :
I write under 2 pen names – Earth Ras Publications and Festival Press. My focus is to bring Indian culture to the forefront of children’s literature by creating indulging and attractive content so children in the NRI families could relate themselves in the stories, at the same time get more
knowledge about the vibrancy of Indian heritage. I tend to use the Indian household names for my book characters. This way children and also the parents find the books relatable.
My books span the genres of fiction and non-fiction, presenting an array of captivating Indian cultural stories, festivals and educational resources. Each narrative is carefully crafted to stimulate curiosity and promote a broader worldview among the impressionable minds of children.

Where Does your Inspiration come from.
Rakhi Singh :
I believe that the answers to all our quests are always around us. Sometimes we fail to recognise them or sometimes they get unnoticed.
My inspiration is my children who when out of curiosity ask questions about festivals, their significance and mythological stories that gives me the clue that there is an appetite for the content to be created. And thus my stories take their shape. My book – ‘Mum, what is Navratri?’
was born out of that curious question which my son asked me. There is a sequel too – ‘Dad, what is Sankranti?’

With the workload demanding my attention, I streamline my household responsibilities efficiently rather than extravagantly. Juggling two businesses – my media agency and publications –
underscores the necessity of a meticulously crafted daily schedule. It’s imperative to discern which tasks take precedence, which client projects demand immediate attention, and to strategise for upcoming book promotions, especially with festivals on the horizon. Additionally,
managing multiple social media platforms, both for clients and personal branding, adds another layer of complexity.Beyond professional commitments, I actively engage as a social and community advocate, collaborating with various charities and extending support in diverse capacities. My network serves as a conduit for fostering connections and amplifying impact. To navigate this multifaceted landscape, I diligently curate my calendar, cataloging crucial tasks and assigning
them priority status, ensuring that each facet of my responsibilities receives the attention it deserves.

Each individual possesses unique qualities and potential. Embarking on your journey begins with recognising and leveraging your strengths, however small they may seem. It’s about embracing your innate characteristics and taking action based on that foundation. If uncertainty
clouds your path or doubts linger in your mind, take a moment to introspect. Reflect on your personality, discerning the traits that endear you to others. Consider why people gravitate towards you, seek your guidance, or admire certain aspects of your character. Jot these down, for within them lies the essence of your strength.
Trust your instincts, for they often lead to the most profound transformations. But remember, the journey ahead may present challenges. Brace yourself for the adversities inherent in the entrepreneurial voyage.

What are 3Key things that you have learned as an Entrepreneur in 2023.

One of the most profound realisations I’ve had is that as women, we inherently embody the role of ‘giver’. It’s ingrained within us to nurture and support those around us. Yet, navigating this
journey involves confronting three distinct levels of struggle, particularly for women.
Firstly, there’s the internal battle, grappling with doubts about our capabilities and
decision-making prowess. Overcoming this requires a steadfast belief in our own worth and Secondly, there’s the familial arena. We often prioritise the needs of our loved ones above our own, sometimes to the detriment of our own well-being. Recognising the importance of
self-value and occasionally prioritizing our own needs amidst familial responsibilities is a significant step forward.
Lastly, there are the external challenges imposed by the world. As entrepreneurs, we must confront these obstacles head-on. Remarkably, women excel in multitasking and multi-level
management, proving ourselves to be indefatigable in the face of adversity.
In essence, embracing our innate strength as ‘givers’, while acknowledging and navigating these three levels of struggle, empowers us to thrive as entrepreneurs and leaders in our own right.

what hurdle did you face in your business in 2023 and how did you overcome them.

I wouldn’t say necessarily it was a hurdle but it was an alarm to change and adapt to the rapidly
changing landscape of digital media and marketing. The evolving algorithms of social media platforms and the AI automation posed a challenge in reaching and engaging with our target
audience effectively. Additionally, the increased competition in the digital space required us to continuously innovate and stay ahead of the curve.
To overcome these challenges, I took proactive steps to invest in ongoing training and development. I consistently tried to stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in digital marketing through workshops, online courses, and networking events which benefited in
understanding our audience’s preferences and behavior.

The year 2023 stands out as a pinnacle in my life’s journey, marked by significant achievements and heartfelt contributions. There were many memorable moments which I will humbly cherish
forever in my life I was felicitated for my steady commitment to community service by the local council Member of Parliament.
Being named a finalist in the esteemed SHE INSPIRES 2023 awards by Inspiring Indian Women organisation.
I was also nominated for the prestigious Outstanding Role Model In Education for the SHE INSPIRES 2024 award. The award will be presented at the Houses of Parliament, London on the
occasion of International Women’s Day. It was not only a personal triumph but a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication.
Moreover, my books soared to bestseller status multiple times. This success fueled my passion for storytelling and reinforced my resolve to continue sharing our rich cultural tapestry with the world.
Amidst these achievements, my involvement with various charity organisations took on new
depth and purpose. I worked tirelessly across multiple levels, leveraging my platform to effect meaningful change and champion causes close to my heart. One such initiative saw me donating 100% of the royalties earned from one of my books to support girls’ education in India,
a cause that holds profound significance for me.
