After the immediate Transfer of DGP Rashmi Shukla Ordered issued by Election Commission, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar took Charge as interim Maharashtra DGP.Vivek Phansalkar is the senior most IPS officer in the State. Election Commission also asked to Home Department to submit a list three senior Most IPS officer by November 5, 1 pm of which would be appointed as DGP.

 Three Important Name for DGP :
DG Legal (Technical ) Sanjay Verma
DG Ritesh Kumar (Homeguard )
CP Mumbai Vivek Phansalkar
According to sources Vivek Phansalkar will be final as per his Seniority

After Strong allegations against Rashmi Shukla by Congress amd other opposition parties Election Commission ordered Home Department to tranfer Rashmi Shukla and asked to sumit list senior IPS officers for the post of DGP. Rashmi Shukla was facing allegations in  Phone Tapping case by Maha vikas Aghadi leaders from tje day one when she took charge as DGP Maharashtra two year back.
