Mumbai: Dr. D.B. Marg Police have arrested Rahul Ramnath Kanojiya, a senior executive of a reputed Mumbai hospital and resident of Ambernath, on charges of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation. He has been remanded to judicial custody.

According to the FIR accessed by Hello Mumbai News, the complainant a female colleague of the accused stated that they became acquainted while working at the hospital. She initially rejected his marriage proposal citing caste differences. However, the accused allegedly gained her trust by offering emotional support during her illness.

The FIR alleges that Kanojiya exploited her vulnerable background and, on the false assurance of marriage, induced her into a relationship. He allegedly pressured her into accompanying him on trips, during which he repeatedly forced himself on her.

In one instance at a Lonavala resort, the complainant claimed that he spiked her drink with alcohol, sexually assaulted her, and recorded intimate photos and videos without her consent. When she resisted further, he allegedly threatened to circulate these images and videos on social media.

The complainant further stated that between 2022 and 2025, the accused coerced her into giving him approximately ₹3.7 lakh, including withdrawals from her provident fund.

In June 2025, Rahul Kanojiya reportedly married another woman. Despite this, he allegedly continued his relationship with the complainant and engaged in physical relations under the false pretext of divorcing his wife and marrying her. However, he later reneged on this assurance.

Following these incidents, the victim approached the Dr. D.B. Marg Police Station. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation.

Police confirmed that the accused has been remanded to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway.
