Voting across 29 municipal corporations including Mumbai was held across Maharashtra. A total of 3.48 crore voters were eligible to decide the fate of 15,931 candidates. The spotlight is on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s richest civic body with an annual budget of over Rs 74, 400 crore, where 1,700 candidates are vying for 227 seats in elections being held after a four-year delay.

The BJP and its allies, part of the Mahayuti alliance, is set for a full sweep in the BMC election. The Marathi speakers in Mumbai, are preferring the alliance of the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS.But Surprisingly Eknath Shinde led Shivsena also performed well in some part of Mumbai specially in Western Suburbs.

Mumbai, it is a battle between the Thackeray brothers, who have reunited in its backdrop after 20 years to reclaim their heritage, vs the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance.

Exit poll done by JVC has revealed that BJP-led Mahayuti Alliance is expected to win massively in the BMC election with 138 seats while the Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS Alliance is expected to emerge victorious in 59 seats

Barring DV Research, which has projected that the BJP Shiv Sena alliance may fall short of the 114-mark, all other exit polls predict a clean sweep for the ruling coalition.
