BJP Tops Strike Rate in Civic Polls, Outperforms Rivals
Mumbai16 th January: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the party with the highest strike rate in the recent civic elections, outperforming all major political rivals in terms of electoral efficiency.
According to the data, the BJP contested 135 seats and won 89, registering an impressive success rate of 66 per cent, the highest among all parties. This strong performance highlights the party’s effective candidate selection and campaign strategy.
The Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) contested 90 seats and secured victories in 29, achieving a 32 per cent strike rate. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (UBT faction) contested the maximum number of seats at 166, winning 65, with a 39 per cent success rate.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) contested 53 seats but managed to win only 6, resulting in a low 11 per cent strike rate. The Congress party fared poorly, winning 24 out of 152 seats, translating into a 16 per cent success rate.
Among other parties, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) contested 28 seats and won 8, posting a 29 per cent success rate. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) contested 84 seats but secured only 3 victories, with a mere 4 per cent strike rate, while the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction contested 8 seats and won 1, registering a 12.5 per cent success rate. The Samajwadi Party (SP) contested 70 seats and won 2, with a 2.9 per cent success rate.
Overall, the results underline BJP’s dominance in terms of conversion of contested seats into wins, reinforcing its position as the most electorally efficient party in the civic polls, while several opposition parties struggled to translate their contesting strength into electoral success.
