Shinde–BJP Alliance Reasserts Dominance in Kalyan–Dombivli
Kalyan: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), long regarded as a stronghold of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son, MP Shrikant Shinde, has once again reaffirmed its political alignment with the Shinde-led Shiv Sena–BJP Mahayuti alliance.
This civic election marked the first major municipal contest in the city after the split in the Shiv Sena, and the results clearly underline the consolidation of power by the ruling alliance in the region.

Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) – 52 seats
BJP – 51 seats
Shiv Sena (UBT) – 11 seats
MNS – 5 seats
Congress – 2 seats
NCP (SP) – 1 seat
Total Seats: 122
The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) emerged as the single largest party, closely followed by the BJP, together ensuring a comfortable majority for the Mahayuti alliance in the KDMC.
Notably, despite intense competition among rival political groups, three members of the same family contesting from different parties emerged victorious, highlighting the complex and personalized nature of local politics in the civic elections.
