General Manager Honours 10 Central Railway Employees with Safety Awards

Newly Appointed Rajeev Srivastava, General Manager, Central Railway, honoured and Feciliated 10 Central Railway employees with the ‘Safety Award’ for the month of May 2026. This appreciation was awarded to them for their alertness, dedication to duty, and timely action in ensuring safe rail operations.

These awards were given for the alertness, promptness, and dedication displayed by the employees while on duty, which averted potential accidents and ensured safe train operations. Each award consists of a medal, a commendation certificate, a letter of appreciation for safety work, and a cash prize of ₹3,500.

Details of Award Winners:

Mumbai Division (2 Award Winners)

Mahadev Choudhary, Fitter (C&W), Igatpuri, Mumbai Division: On 22.03.2026, while conducting a brake power check on a goods train, he noticed a broken bearing cup of a wagon. He immediately informed the concerned officials, and timely action was taken. His alertness helped avert a potential accident.

Vijay Singh, Senior Technician (C&W), CSMT, Mumbai Division: On 04.04.2026, during the rolling-in inspection of Train No. 12072, he noticed that the wheel flange of a coach was broken. He immediately informed the concerned officials. A potential accident was averted due to his alertness and quick action.

Pune Division (3 Award Winners)

Sumeet Kumar, Deputy Station Manager, Patas, Pune Division: On 28.04.2026, while on duty at Patas station, he noticed sparks and smoke emitting from the grass beneath a wagon of a loaded BTPN rake. He immediately rushed to the spot with fire extinguishers and sand along with the staff on duty, and informed the concerned officials to control the smoke. A potential accident was averted due to his alertness and prompt action.

Baban Jadhav, Technician (C&W), Kolhapur, Pune Division: On 17.04.2026, while inspecting Train No. 11030, he noticed a broken dashpot of a coach. Since the dashpot was located in the primary spring assembly and was difficult to see with the naked eye, he immediately informed the concerned officials. An untoward incident was averted due to his alertness.

Mohammed Sheikh Shakeel, Gateman, Yeola, Pune Division: On 26.03.2026, while on duty at a level crossing gate, he noticed sparks and smoke emitting from the axle box of a passing goods train. He immediately informed the Station Master, and the train was stopped on the loop line, where a hot axle was detected. A potential accident was averted due to his alertness.

Bhusaval Division (3 Award Winners)

Himanshu Agrawal, Train Manager, Itarsi, Bhopal Division: On 12.04.2026 at 21:00 hrs, while on duty at Khandwa station, during the pre-departure inspection of a goods train (BTGPLN), he noticed a severe gas leak from the dome cover of the seventh wagon from the locomotive. He immediately informed all concerned officials, and timely action was taken, averting a potential accident. (Note: While he is from Bhopal Division, this incident occurred/was awarded under Bhusaval jurisdiction).

Babu Kiran, Assistant Loco Pilot, Bhusaval, Bhusaval Division: On 01.04.2026, while inspecting Train No. 12129 at Mhavasad station, he noticed that the torque arm bolt of Traction Motor No. 5 of the locomotive was loose. He immediately informed the concerned officials, and the defect was rectified promptly, averting a potential accident.

S.S. Khedekar, Head Constable, Bhusaval, Bhusaval Division: On 03.04.2026, while on duty at Bhusaval station, he noticed a passenger slipping while trying to board the moving Train No. 11077. Demonstrating exceptional alertness and courage, he immediately rushed and safely rescued the passenger, averting a major mishap.

Solapur Division (1 Award Winner)

Shri Bharat Gorakh Pasale, Track Maintainer, Malikpeth, Solapur Division: On 14.04.2026, while working in the Malikpeth yard, he noticed a hot axle in a passing goods train and immediately stopped the train by showing a red signal. He informed all concerned officials, and timely action was taken, averting a potential accident.

Nagpur Division (1 Award Winner)

Rajesh Kumar, Train Manager, Nagpur Division: On 28.03.2026, while on duty on a Down goods train, he noticed a JCB machine colliding with OHE Mast No. 879/24 on the Up line in the Jaulkhera-Amla block section, causing the mast to tilt towards the railway track. He immediately informed all concerned officials. Following this, the Amla Station Manager issued a caution order to a MEMU train waiting for line clearance, thereby preventing a potential untoward incident.

The General Manager congratulated the award winners for their exemplary dedication to duty and alertness. He expressed confidence that their actions would inspire other railway employees to remain alert and committed to ensuring passenger safety and protecting railway property.

Chandra Kishore Prasad, Principal Chief Safety Officer, other Principal Heads of Departments, and senior officials of Central Railway were present on the occasion.
