2 Youth feared drowned in Bhatsa River in Titwala :
In a tragic incident, two youths are feared to be drowned in the Bhatsa River near Khadavli in Titwala district Thane. According to reports the Titwala police station informed that 2 youths Ramlakhan Maurya(25) and Abhijeet Bhagve(37 ) were on a picnic and while enjoying swimming they went deep into the river and are suspected to be drowned
“We received a distress call on and we immediately rushed to rescue the youths but to our dismay when we reached the spot we found the two youth must have gone too deep inside the river because despite several attempts by fire brigade and police personnel their bodies could not be fished out,” said Titwala police station.
The Titwala police officer said, “We have launched a search operation for the missing men and the fire brigade and specially trained swimmers are trying their best to hunt their bodies.”
An officer from the district disaster management cell informed Hello Mumbai, “The Bhatsa River in Titwala is a favorite spot of picnic and trekking but is also risky and dangerous. Every often we receive reports of death due to drowning but people do not take a lesson.” He added, “We have asked the local police at these popular picnic spots to discourage revelers from going deep into the river. We have requested the National Disaster Response Force to station one of its teams in the district, but despite precaution, revelers encroach and risk their life.”
