August Kranti Day 2026 : Owais Nurie, Grandson of Freedom Fighter Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie, Appeals for National Unity

Mumbai observed the 84th anniversary of August Kranti Diwas on Sunday, with political leaders, police personnel, mill workers and citizens paying tribute to freedom fighters at August Kranti Maidan, the historic site of the Quit India Movement.
Owais Nurie Grandson of freedom fighter Barraster Mohmmad Yasin Nurie
also paid tribute to the freedom fighters as part of the commemorative events.
On this Special Occasion while addressing the Media Owais Nurie said,”
This day is very important in the history of India Flowing the Quit India Resolution on August 8, 1942,My grandfather Barrister M.Y.Nurie and 51 other prominent Congress working Leaders Including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Murarji Desai and S.K.Patil were arrested from Cloba on the morning of August 9 . They were taken to Ahmednagar Fort jail where they remained imprisoned for over two years”,

Mr Owais Nurie further states that the this Rally served to remember the sacrifices that reshaped India’s freedom struggle, Showing the British Government that independence war inevitable.
” On this Special Occasion I appeal to all political leaders across party lines to reunite around national progress, make India more strong don’t divide in the name of Religion and cast,

The rally then proceeded towards Mani Bhavan, where it concluded with tributes to the nation’s freedom struggle and its historic legacy.
