Bharat Bandh Disrupts Normal life; Schools and colleges closed in some states!
The Congress-led Bharat Bandh witnessed major support from many opposition parties against rising petrol/diesel prices and depreciation of the rupee. The Bharat Bandh that began on a soft note took momentum in the morning from 10 a.m. and brought normal life to a standstill in several parts of the country.
Hello Mumbai correspondents across India reported instances of protest morcha, forced train blockades, closure of shops etc. Few cases of violence including stone pelting and burning of vehicles and tyres were also reported from some states.
Several top leaders of Congress like Ashok Chavan, Sanjay Nirupam, Manikrao Thakre and NCP Leaders like Nawab Malik and other party’s leaders were detained by police to break the intensity of the bandh.
