A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK), led by its President Mr. Tariq Ghani, today held an important meeting with the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Anshul Garg, to discuss key issues concerning general trade, hoteliers, houseboat owners, industries, and other allied sectors.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the challenges being faced by various stakeholders, with special emphasis on the need to revive and strengthen winter tourism in the Valley. The Divisional Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the concerns raised and assured the delegation of full administrative support and positive outcomes in addressing the genuine issues of the trade and business community.
The CCIK delegation strongly advocated for illumination and festive beautification of major tourist destinations, particularly Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam, and Srinagar, on the eve of Christmas and New Year, to attract a larger influx of tourists. It was suggested that special initiatives such as cultural programmes, handicrafts exhibitions, and food festivals be organized during this period to create a vibrant and welcoming festive atmosphere.
The Divisional Commissioner agreed that such measures would play a significant role in boosting tourism, enhancing visitor experience, and supporting local livelihoods during the winter season.
The meeting was attended by CCIK office bearers including Mr. Aijaz Khan, Mr. Ashiq Bhat, Mr. Manzoor Pakhtoon (Chairman KHBO), Mr. Zubair Gul (Youth President CCIK), and Mr. Umar Koul (Chief Coordinator).
