Congress workers detained while Protesting off Mantralaya
MUMBAI: A group of Congress workers were detained and taken into custody while they were about to out up black kandeels at Mantralaya, the state secretariat, against the condition of the farmers, working class and common man. The agitation – ahead of Diwali festivities – was led by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Secretary Sayed Zeeshan Ahmed. “Only two persons are celebrating Diwali, prime minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah,” Ahmed told reporters. He said that farmers are dying across the country, Marathwada are reeling under severe drought and loan waiver was just on paper. “Modi and Shah did not had the time to visit Marathwada,” he said, adding that they should come to villages of Marathwada and celebrate Diwali. He said that Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has delayed in declaring drought. Besides, the working class is suffering badly. “Prices of petrol are shooting,” he said, adding that the common man is under the pressure of inflation. “How will people celebrate Diwali… its black Diwali for common man, poor and downtrodden, farmers and working class,” he said adding that the Ambanis and Adanis will celebrate Diwali.
