Mumbai, August 20, 2025 — This year’s Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the observance of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ’s birth anniversary, holds particular significance as it marks 1500 years since his birth. On this momentous occasion, Social Worker and Journalist Faisal Shaikh Editor of Rokthok Lekhani Newspaper & President Sabri Human Welfare Foundation Ngo has appealed to the Maharashtra Government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to make special arrangements.

Shaikh emphasized that just as major religious festivals like Ganeshotsav, Navratri, and Dahi Handi are granted additional time and administrative support, similarly, processions and events for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi should also receive extra time and special permissions. He urged that, in view of this historic milestone, the government should allocate special funding via the BMC to facilitate large-scale processions, decorations, lighting, and cultural programs.

According to him, Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is not just a festival for the Muslim community, but carries a message of peace and brotherhood for all humanity. He stressed that on this 1500th-year celebration, the government’s support is essential to make it a truly memorable and harmonious event.

Moreover, members of the Muslim community across Mumbai and Maharashtra have also joined the appeal, requesting special permissions, extra time, and financial assistance to ensure that the celebrations are conducted peacefully and joyfully.
