CM inaugurates Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Jal Yatra from Goda to Narmada
Trimbakeshwar, April 25. Continuing the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mantra of Virasat Bhi-Vikas Bhi’(Heritage as well as development), Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Jal Yatra, which began from Goda to Narmada. Organized by the Maharashtra Water Resources Department on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyadevi, this Jal Yatra also included a Kalash Pujan ceremony. Chief Minister Fadnavis remarked that Punyashlok Ahilyadevi is revered as a good ruler and the water conservation work initiated by her continues unabated to ensure that no area faces drought.

On this occasion, he stated that the work done by the virtuous Ahilyadevi, from women’s education to employment, is significant. Ahilyadevi Holkar’s work for sustainable development is incomparable. Chief Minister Fadnavis also mentioned her ongoing efforts to conserve water, from the Goda to the Narmada.
During the yatra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed Narmada Pujan with water from 30 sacred rivers of the state. Fadnavis stated that this yatra will not only be symbolic but also a major mass movement. This yatra will bring society and culture together.

Mr. Fadnavis also stated that in the coming days, during the Kumbh Yatra, he will fulfill the pledge of “Nirmal Godavari, Avirat Godavari.” All the work initiated by his government to conserve water will be completed at all costs. On this occasion, CM Fadnavis also launched a film based on Lokmata Ahilyadevi Holkar.
He stated that just as river linking projects connect rivers, this yatra will also serve to connect people, society, and culture. The main objective of the yatra is to create awareness about water conservation and disseminate modern water-saving technologies.

During the ceremony, Mr. Fadnavis unveiled the logo of the Sankalp Unnat Nashik Abhiyan, launched by Water Resources (Vidarbha, Tapi, Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation) and Disaster Management Minister Mr. Girish Mahajan. Present at the event were Water Resources Minister (Godavari and Krishna Basin Development Corporation) Mr. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, His Holiness Gurumouli Shri Annasaheb More, Cabinet Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Bharatiya Janata Party Maharashtra State President Ravindra Chavan, and Crown Prince Yashwantrao Holkar of the Holkar family.
Shri Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil welcomed the gathering, praising the work of PM Shri Modi, and expressed his desire to fulfill the Chief Minister’s dream of making Maharashtra drought-free.

The Ahilyadevi Jal Yatra has been started from Trimbakeshwar as well as from her birthplace Chondi. In Chondi, it was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. The Jal Yatra will converge at Shirdi as its first stop.
