Goondaism in the name of Lalbaugcha Raja’s darshan; DCP Abhinash Kumar (Zone III) manhandled by the rowdy volunteers!
Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal is renowned in Mumbai for its mystical blessing and fulfilling the wishes of every devotee. However, over the years, the ‘goondaism’ of volunteers at Lalbaugcha Raja’s pandal has increased beyond limits. This year, once again, the mandal made headlines on Tuesday for manhandling DCP Abhinash Kumar (Zone III) by the rowdy volunteers.
This is not the first time when the volunteers of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal have humiliated the devotees who stand long hour’s to seek Ganesha’s Darshan but even in the past, there have been several complaints about the hooliganism of the volunteers who have been accused of assault and misbehavior with the devotees.
On condition of anonymity, a Mumbai policeman on duty at Lalbaugcha Raja told Hello Mumbai, “Each year there is an unprecedented rush of devotees to seek the blessing of Lord Ganesha hence this year Mumbai Police have made adequate arrangements.”
However, he lamented, “Though the police do its duty sincerely the problems is exaggerated by the rowdy volunteers of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal and the local residents of the area. Instead of being unbiased these people give special treatment to the VVIPs and their close kith and kin and allow them to seek Lord Ganesha’s darshan without a queue. They allow these VVIPs lane and close relative to pass through a Special Lane while the ordinary devotees have to face humiliation and are manhandled. Hence DCP Abhinash Kumar (Zone III) tried to take action on the goondaism of the volunteers but alas he too was manhandled!!!
Hello Mumbai condemns the hooliganism of the volunteers and demands that the Special Darshan of Lalbaugcha Raja should be banned.
