Heavy rains lash Mumbai on Saturday, IMD issues red alert for next 24 hours water-logging in lowlying areas slums flooded


Mumbaikars braced for yet another heavy spell of heavy rains on Saturday which resulted in water logging in Sion, Kurla, Gandhi Market, Kings Circle, Bandra, Andheri Market and Hindmata Dadar. Traffic on total 4 routes were diverted owing to waterlogging.
Almost every part of the city witnessed heavy rainfall throughout the night.

IMD has issued a red alert for Mumbai till 08.30 tomorrow morning. Heavy rainfall is expected at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places for the next 24 hrs. The possibility of thunder/lightning and gusty winds is also there.
The heavy rainfall, also impacted the local train services. The service between CST-THANE is suspended. Train service between CST-VASHI is suspended. On central and harbour routes, only Thane-Kalyan and Vashi-Panvel train services are on. Western line resumed today morning.
There was incidents of house collapses last night. 17 people died in a wall collapse due to a landslide in Chembur. And total 3 people died in a house collapse in Vikhroli.
