Book ‘Islam and the New Order’ by Freedom Fighter Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie Launched at NGMA Mumbai
MUMBAI, August 31, 2026 — The book ‘Islam and the New Order’, authored by the distinguished freedom fighter Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie, was officially unveiled on 31st August Monday at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in South Mumbai.

The launch event was hosted by Owais Nuri, grandson of Barrister Nurie, and inaugurated by IAS Nidhi Choudhari, Director of NGMA Mumbai. The ceremony drew a distinguished gathering of academics, social activists, content creators, and professionals across various sectors.
Paying rich tributes to the late freedom fighter, IAS Nidhi Choudhari highlighted Barrister Nuri’s steadfast commitment to national unity and his key contributions to India’s freedom struggle. “Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the country, setting a benchmark for unity,” Choudhari stated.

She also highlighted the ongoing 15-day exhibition at NGMA, titled “India’s Freedom Legacy – The Unsung, The Unforgotten”, which displays over 300 rare artifacts belonging to Barrister Nurie. The showcase includes his personal correspondence with prominent national leaders, handwritten manuscripts, photographs, a vintage passport, and historical documents. She encouraged the public to explore the newly released edition of the book.

Recalling his grandfather’s fierce opposition to the Partition of India, Owais Nurie noted, “Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nuri strongly opposed Muhammad Ali Jinnah and rejected the idea of Partition from day one. He penned this book in 1941 while detained in Yerwada Jail.” He also highlighted Nuri’s tenure as the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) in the Bombay Province from 1937 to 1939.

Book Presented in Digital Format:
Irfan Ajmeri, who compiled the book in digital format, explained that the work has been divided into four parts and presented chapter-wise.
According to Ajmeri, Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie discusses the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad and presents his understanding of the core message and values of Islam.
Educationist Raju Tadvi, while addressing the gathering, said society should learn from history and described the book as a valuable source of knowledge about history and Islam.
“We should all learn from history. This book teaches us and gives us knowledge about history and Islam. My gratitude to the Nurie family for this great initiative,” Tadvi said.
Iqbal Memon , President of the All India Memon Jamat Federation, also attended the book launch and praised Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Renowned social activist Dr. Patankar also appealed to people to read the book and understand its message.
“India is a great nation. Islam believes in humanity and unity, and Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie explained these values in this book,” Social Activist Dr patankar said .

The book release concluded with tributes to Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie’s contribution to India’s freedom movement and his advocacy of Hindu-Muslim unity, peace and social harmony.
The release of Islam and the New Order was presented as an effort to bring Barrister Mohammad Yasin Nurie’s historical writings, ideas and message to a new generation of readers.
Prominent figures including academician Raju Tadvi, President of All India Memon Jamaat Federation Iqbal Memon, and renowned social activist Dr. Patankar also addressed the gathering, praising the initiative to introduce Barrister Nuri’es ideals of communal harmony, peace, and national integration to the younger generation.
