Mumbai, 28th May 2022:  The three-day ‘Khadi Mahotsav 2022’ was inaugurated by Atharva School of Fashion and Arts and Mumbai Khadi Village Industries Association Trust (KORA Kendra) at Borivali West. On this occasion the chief guest, North Central Mumbai MP Shri Gopal Shetty, Borivali MLA Sunil Rane and other prominent BJP office-bearers were present.
In the next three-day long Khadi Mahotsav, many prominent artists from all over the country exhibited Khadi clothes along with many other art crafts in the stalls. Many states of the country as well as far flung cities have participated with great enthusiasm in the exhibition of fine artefacts. The festival will have an evening fashion show on 28 and 29 May. The Khadi Mahotsav has been conceptualised by Sunil Rane, President of Atharva Foundation and MLA of Borivali. 10 designers are working on local fashion apparels to showcase India’s diverse cultural heritage at the Khadi Festival. The designers of this Khadi Mahotsav will be a unique celebration and display of various Indian cultures and traditions. Khadi is an instrument of social change in pre-independence times and a symbol of revival and self-reliance in modern times. And because of the modest dress of our great freedom fighters, Khadi has become the epitome of fashion.

Regarding organising Khadi Mahotsav 2022, Sunil Rane said that the objective of this event is to promote Khadi industry and hand woven fabrics and bring local fashion designers into the mainstream. Along with this, through this Khadi fashion show, the culture and traditions of India have to be displayed. The essence of simplicity, purity and sustainability of Khadi will be presented through this Khadi Fashion Show. The fashion showcase presents our culture and heritage along with the modernity of Khadi.
