Mumbai 1 February: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has reportedly struck again in Mumbai. In the early hours of Sunday, five unidentified shooters fired four shots outside the Juhu residence of Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Following the shooting, security was significantly beefed up at Shetty’s home. The Juhu police have registered an FIR against five unknown individuals. Shortly after the attack, Shubham Lonkar, a trusted aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for the firing via a social media post.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has formed a specialized team to investigate the case. According to sources, five suspects have already been detained in Pune, and further investigations are underway.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang first gained widespread notoriety following the 2022 murder of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala. Since then, the gang has been linked to various high-profile crimes, including:

  • The targeted killing of a Khalistani movement activist in Canada.

  • The 2024 assassination of former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique.

  • A firing incident at the Bandra residence of actor Salman Khan.

Media reports suggest that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang operates a global network of over 700 shooters. Bishnoi himself is currently incarcerated in Sabarmati Jail in connection with the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.
