LT Marg Police Arrest Two in Cyber Fraud Case, Recover 25 Mobile Phones Worth ₹11.66 Lakh

Cyber Fraud Gang Arrested in Ahmedabad; 25 Mobile Phones Worth ₹11.66 Lakh Recovered

Mumbai, October 6, 2026: The LT Marg Police have arrested two accused from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in connection with a cyber fraud case involving the unauthorized use of a credit card and the purchase of expensive mobile phones. Police have recovered 25 mobile phones collectively valued at ₹11,66,075 in the case.
According to the press note issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Division 02, Mumbai, a case was registered at LT Marg Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Victim Duped Through WhatsApp Link
According to the police, the accused allegedly contacted the complainant through a mobile number and sent a link via WhatsApp. The complainant was allegedly induced to open the link on the pretext of stopping an M.O. (Mail Order) service.
After the link was opened, the accused allegedly carried out three unauthorized transactions using the complainant’s credit card. The transactions amounted to approximately ₹4,48,621, which was subsequently used to purchase products through an online platform, according to the police.
During the investigation, police conducted a technical analysis and traced the accused to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where they were arrested.
Two Accused Arrested
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Ajinsab Sameerbeg Mirza, 23
Mohd. Rahim Sheikh, 34
Police said that the accused were found in possession of two Apple mobile phones linked to the present case. During further investigation, mobile phones belonging to Apple, Samsung, Google, Vivo and other brands were recovered.
A total of 25 mobile phones worth ₹11.66 lakh have been recovered in connection with the investigation.

The investigation was conducted under the guidance of  Deven Bharti, Police Commissionerate Mumbai,and senior officers of the South Division, including Joint Commissioner Law and order Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner (D.P.C.) Shailesh Balkawade, DCP South Zone 02 Rajsudha R., and other senior police officials.
The cyber crime investigation team and personnel from LT Marg Police Station played a key role in tracing and apprehending the accused.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify other persons who may be connected with the cyber fraud network and to determine whether similar cases were carried out elsewhere.
