MAHA SNAN is one of the most important rituals in Hindus Durga Puja. A mirror is placed in front of The Goddess Durga’s idol so that the reflection can be seen through the mirror and having a bath is known as Maha snan (holi bath). The eight pot of water mixing with honey, suger, different type of Soil with Sandel pest, and others Panchagabya, panch mritika, sorbousodhi, mahaoisodhi, etc are used in a very interesting process during the time of bath with varieties of music like shenai and flute with systemetic Raga and Tal (rhythm). The Ragga and Tal played in the 1st ghat (pot) using Ganga water with Malab raga, bijay badya, 2nd ghat using rain water with Lalit Raga (ved (mridangam) instrument, 3 rd ghat using Water of saraswati with Bivas raga and dundhuvi (Drum) instruments, 4th using sea water with Bhairav raga and Bhim (giuter) badya, 5th ghat using Lotus renu mixing water with kedar raga and indravishek badya (piano) , 6th ghat using saower water with Barari raga& Shankya(trumpet,) 7th ghat using Tirtha (holi places water) Basanta raga with panchasabdo badya (woodwind ), 8th ghat using holi places water with Dhansi raga and Bhairav badhya(sarod)and after praying with a pot having several number of holes known as Sahasradhara bath is done to complete this holy bath ritual.
