Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maharashtra Won’t Tolerate Divisive Slogans Like ‘Katenge to Batenge’; There is Disagreement Within BJP Alliance Leaders
Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh Delivered a Blow to BJP in Lok Sabha Elections; Do the Same in State Elections
Mumbai, November 16, 2024

Maharashtra, the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has always welcomed and respected all communities, offering dreams and livelihoods to everyone who comes here. Attempts to divide the state with slogans like ‘Katenge to Batenge,’ ‘Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain,’ and ‘Vote Jihad’ will never succeed, said senior Congress leader Raj Babbar. He emphasized that even BJP alliance leaders are divided on such rhetoric.
Addressing a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, Raj Babbar stated, “Maharashtra stands apart for its rich culture, traditions, and dignity. No outsider can tarnish the pride and honour of this state. The BJP tried to create rifts along caste and religious lines for political gains, but the people of Maharashtra rejected this ploy. Leaders like Ashok Chavan, Pankaja Munde, and even NCP leader Ajit Pawar have opposed such divisive language, making it clear that this won’t work in Maharashtra.”
Babbar added that realizing this, the Prime Minister abandoned his campaign in Maharashtra and fled on a foreign tour. He further highlighted how voters in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra delivered a significant blow to the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, reducing their seats by 30 and 16, respectively. He urged voters to repeat this in the state elections and bring back a Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
The press conference was also attended by Congress National Spokesperson Surendra Rajput, Chayanika Uniyal, Charanjit Sapra, Mumbai Congress Chief Spokesperson Yuvraj Mohite, and Nizamuddin Raine.
