Mumbai Police nabs 2 for smuggling country-made pistols in Mumbai :
In a major breakthrough in the smuggling of country-made pistols popularly known as ‘Katta’, the Meghwadi police have nabbed two notorious criminals Raju Hariram Tiwari and Jagdish Rajaram Jadhav from Shivajinagar at Jogeshwari in Mumbai.
Rajdutta Kamble, the Assistant Police Inspector of Meghwadi police station informed media, “I got a tip-off that the two accused have smuggled country-made pistols and were planning to sell them in Mumbai. Hence I alerted my Senior PI Jagdev Kalapad, who formed a team with Bhushan More and as per schedule we raided Shivajinagar (East) and caught the accused red-handed with 4 country made pistols and 8 live bullets.”
Giving details of the accused, Kamble said, “Raju Hariram Tiwari resides in Thane and is a native of Uttar Pradesh. The other accused Jagdish Rajaram Jadhav also lives in Thane and is the native of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. Both accused have been given PC (Police Custody) by the court.”
Senior PI Jagdev Kalapad told media, “The duo has been registered under section 3 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and section 37(1) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.”
Praising the good job of Meghwadi police officers, Zone 10 DCP Navinchandra Reddy and Dnyanesh Murlidhar Devde (Assistant Commissioner of Police) applauded the arrest of the accused in smuggling of country-made pistols. The top cops said, “Our team of Police officials are always alert and take action at regular intervals so as to prevent all criminal activities and keep Mumbai calm and peaceful.”
