AAP: BJP presiding over ‘Organised loot’ in BMC and other 27 Municipal corporations in Maha , BMC fixed deposits depleted substantially;
lower bureaucracy has gone rogue, no priority for civic grievance redressal, people have no where to go
AAP: We are ready to go to the people of Maharashtra for a mandate in our favour, AAP is not just an alternative but the solution to Maharashtra’s mess
The Aam Aadmi Party today welcomed the Supreme Court order, directing the Maharashtra State Election Commission to conduct local body polls within 4 months. Regular conduct of elections are part of the basic structure of the constitution and is immutable.
“It is a crying shame that, local bodies especially urban local bodies were functioning without public representation. For BMC, it’s been over 3 years and for other 27 corporations it anywhere between 3years and 8 years!
The state government has usurped power through proxy by appointing administrators who are directly answerable to the state’s CM. BMC’s fixed deposits have depleted substationially. There is an organized loot across local bodies in Maharashtra by the ruling parties, while denying the public representation at the level that is is closest to them.
In the absence of public representation, the lower bureaucracy in urban local bodies have gone rogue and are rent seeking openly while turning a blind eye to day to day civic grievances.
We welcome this order of the Supreme Court. The Aam Aadmi Party stands for clean politics and a new political culture. We are prepared to go to Maharashtra’s masses to seek a mandate in our favour, to deliver the people from the mess that Maharashtra’s governance has become. “, said Preeti Sharma Menon, Mumbai President, Aam Aadmi Party.
