Mumbai: BMC Demolishes 14 Illegal Structures in Madh Island Including Marathi Serial ‘Tujhi Majhi Jamli Jodi’ Set

Hello Mumbai City Desk

Mumbai, May 13, 2025 – In a major crackdown, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished 14 illegal constructions in Madh Island’s P North Ward, including the shooting set of the popular Marathi TV serial ‘Tujhi Majhi Jamli Jodi’. These structures were reportedly built on fake blueprints.

24 Illegal Constructions Demolished in Two Weeks

Today’s operation targeted illegal structures in Erangal and Valnai villages. Out of the 14 demolished today, 3 were in Erangal (measuring 1900, 1700, and 650 sq. ft.), and 11 were in Valnai (each around 200–300 sq. ft.). Just last week, the BMC had taken down 9 other unauthorized constructions, including an illegal bungalow—bringing the two-week total to 24 demolitions.

TV Serial Set Razed Over Fake Documentation

The set of ‘Tujhi Majhi Jamli Jodi’, which had been used for over a year, was found to be operating with forged documents. When Assistant Commissioner Kundan Valvi of the P North Ward asked the set owners to produce valid paperwork, they failed to comply. Verification revealed the documents were fraudulent, prompting immediate demolition orders.

Under the supervision of Sub-Engineer Praveen Muluk, the BMC team reached the site with two bulldozers and razed the set. According to Executive Engineer Sagar Rane, the operation was swift, with the entire structure dismantled in just five hours using 3 JCBs and other equipment. Around 10 BMC officials and adequate police force were present for the action, monitored closely by Assistant Engineer Rajesh Sunawane.

Demolition Drive to Continue Till May-End

Assistant Commissioner Kundan Valvi confirmed that the demolition drive will continue. The BMC has identified 101 illegal constructions based on fake maps in the P North region and aims to remove all of them by the end of May 2025.
