Bombay HC Convicts Gangster-turned Politician Arun Gawli to Life Imprisonment – now in Nagpur Central Jail

In a new development, the Bombay High Court on Monday has convicted gangster- turned-politician- ex- MLA Arun Gawli in the Shiv Sena Municipal Corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar murder case in 2007. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012 under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by a trial court.

Since his arrest in 2008, Gawli has been lodged in Nagpur Central Jail.

A division bench comprising Justice BP Dharmadhikari and Justice Swapna Joshi pronounced the judgment that also included some other associates who were involved in the crime.

In March 2008, Gawli had sent members of his gang to the corporator’s house to bump him off.

Meanwhile from Nagpur’s Central Jail he made an appeal in High Court, but the apex court pronounced life term for him.

Arun Gawli known for his terror and criminal activities in the underworld and also main  rival of Dawood Ibrahim gang in Mumbai .Arun Gawli ranked second position in the underworld after Dawood Ibrahim .He also enemy of his neighborhood gang Ashwin Naik who is also in a  jail now In Extortion case .Arun Gawli also founder of political party Akhil Bhartiya Sena her daughter Geeta Gawli is Muncipal Councillor from Dagdi chawl Bycullah since 2012.Gawli himself elected MLA from his party in 2002 from Chinchpokli Assembly Constituency.He also Fought MP election against his own nephew and former NCP leader Sachin Bhau Ahir but lost.Arun Gawli had long criminal record against him.Dawood Ibrahim Considered his Arch enemy in the underworld.Gawli murdered Dawood ” brother in law parker in Shuklaji street in 1990′ s. Arun Gawli considered second rank don after Dawood in Underworld but still strong .He served most of his life in jail but his gang always active in criminal activities in Mumbai .After floating his political party Akhil Bhartiya Sena in 2000 then Shivsena BJP Government was in power after seen popularity of ABS  ,Mumbai  police launched campaign against Gawli gang and his main shooters or party leaders like Sada Pawle, Vijay Tandel and Zulfikar were killed in encountered. Arun Gawli was in politics but he didn’t stop his criminal activity .Geeta Gawli daughter of Arun Gawli is two time Muncipal Councillor from Dagdi Chawl she also contested two times Maharastra Assembly Election but lost.She is active Politician.
