According to police officials, Adenwala is implicated in a sophisticated racket involving the forgery of government documents to illicitly secure firearms licenses.
Speaking exclusively to Hello Mumbai News, Investigating Officer Mr. Kaatkar of the Khar Police Station confirmed the court’s decision and emphasized the necessity of the extension for the ongoing probe.
”Today, we produced the accused, Faiz Irfan Adenwala, before the court. Given the depth of the irregularities, the court has directed us to conduct further investigation, granting police custody of the accused for a second time. Our investigation is currently underway to uncover the full extent of the forgery network,” Officer Kaatkar stated.
Brief Fact of the Case:
In a major crackdown on illegal firearm licensing and document forgery, on 29 May the Khar Police have arrested Mumbai Business man and Car Dealer Faiz Irfan Adenwala a 36-year-old local businessman for allegedly using forged documents, including a fake Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), to renew an arms licence originally issued in Nagaland.
The accused, identified as Faiz Irfan Adenwala, was taken into custody on Friday following a detailed probe into his licensing documentation. He is currently facing severe charges under the Arms Act alongside multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) involving cheating, forgery, and criminal breach of trust.
The Forgery and Violation
According to police sources, Adenwala had originally obtained an arms licence from Nagaland. To extend its validity, he allegedly procured and submitted a forged Police Clearance Certificate to the licensing authorities to facilitate the renewal.
Furthermore, Khar police revealed that Adenwala had failed to comply with mandatory declaration procedures. Under current regulations, any individual holding an arms licence from another state and residing in Mumbai must declare their firearms and submit registration details to the Brihanmumbai Police Commissionerate. Adenwala allegedly bypassed this legal requirement, keeping the city police in the dark about his possession of the weapon while presenting the forged licence renewal as legitimate.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
The matter came to light during routine document verification and cross-jurisdictional audits conducted by the Mumbai Police. Upon confirming that the verification documents were fraudulent, the Khar Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and subsequently arrested Adenwala.
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the accused was produced before the 9th Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bandra (East). The prosecution highlighted the security risks associated with forged firearms documentation and requested custodial interrogation to determine the source of the fake certificates.
Convinced by the initial evidence, the Bandra Court remanded Adenwala to police custody until June 2, 2026.
