Mumbai Sunni Muslim Delegation Led by Ibrahim Bhaijaan Meets Iran Consul General Over LPG Crisis, Indian Safety Concerns

Mumbai, March 25, 2026: Amid escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, concerns over a potential LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) crisis in India have come to the forefront. Taking serious note of the situation, the Mumbai-based Labbaik Educational Welfare Committee organized a high-level delegation to address pressing humanitarian and economic concerns.

Under the leadership of Ibrahim Bhaijaan, Senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and former Chairman of the Maharashtra State Haj Committee, the delegation—comprising prominent Maulanas, Ulemas, and social activists—met. Mr.H E.Motlaq  the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai on Wednesday. A formal memorandum was submitted during the meeting.

The memorandum highlighted concerns over the ongoing conflict and its possible impact on India, particularly the disruption of LPG supplies and maritime trade routes. The delegation also extended congratulations to the Consul General on his recent appointment while expressing deep concern over the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Ibrahim Bhaijaan urged Iranian authorities to work towards an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of innocent lives and ensure regional stability. He emphasized the urgent need to safeguard Indian citizens, including students and tourists currently in Iran or affected regions.

The delegation also requested necessary arrangements for the safe evacuation of Indians if the situation worsens. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring the security of Indian vessels navigating through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas transportation.
Responding to the concerns, H.E.Motlaq the Consul General, His Excellency assured the delegation that the safety of Indian nationals remains a priority.

He reiterated that India and Iran share long-standing trade and cultural relations and affirmed that all necessary cooperation and support would be extended to Indian citizens during this period.

He further assured that Indian vessels would continue to have access to maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, for uninterrupted trade operations.

The meeting concluded with prayers for peace and for the souls of those who have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.
Prominent members present in the delegation included Haji Ibrahim Ghulam Nabi, Haji Rafik Shaikh, Shakir Mansuri, Zafar Siddiqui, Irshad Kazi, Yaseen Qureshi, Irfan Khan, Ziauddin Husain, Shakir Qureshi, Nasir Khan, Rafiq Zariwala, Shaney Naqvi, Chirag Shaikh, Munna Bhai Usman, Shaikh Zia Shaikh, Rafik Hanif Shaikh, Fahim Ibrahim Shaikh, among others.

In a conversation with His Excellency H.E. Motlaq, Ibrahim Bhaijaan also offered medical assistance to the affected people
