Mumbai: Mumbai Police has arrested 54 year old Parvez Ismail Sarkare, former Trustee of Juma Masjid of Bombay Trust and booked him under sections 420, 468, 467, 380, 471, 465 and 34 of Indian Penal Code for allegedly selling the grave according to Yakub Memon’s kin at the Marine Lines Bada Kabrastan where he was buried after his execution in Nagpur Prison.According to Complainant Mohd Abdul Rauf Three grave yards (oathas) including Yaqub Memon’s oatha have been sold in 5 lacs illegally by arrested accused. On this allegation police registered an FIR and arrested the accused.
After his arrest on Saturday, he was produced in Court and sent police custody for Two days.
Reportedly, the Kabrastan sold illegally is registered under the said Trust and is the property of the Waqf Board. As per rules, nobody can get access to it but only his family for maintenance.
