Mumbai: Maharashtra Government declares Coronavirus as “Epidemic”

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in the State Assembly on Friday, has declared Coronavirus an epidemic in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Nagpur,
Elaborating it, the Chief Minister said that Maharashtra government has invoked the Epidemic Disease Act with effect from midnight as cases in the state has escalated to 17. Adding that wherever possible, companies should allow its employees to work from home in view of Coronavirus threat.
Public schools in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad has been shut from today till further notice.
The Chief Minister also advised people to void going to malls, restaurants and other public places.
Gyms, swimming pools and theatres will be shut from midnight till further notice.
Meanwhile, the Indian officials have been in dialogue with private healthcare service providers on steps taken to contain and treat Covid-19, but the government hasn’t solicited their active participation as yet.
