Mumbai: Pravin Darekar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC, has been a close aide of Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

At a time when Konkan was hit by a Cyclone Nisgara, he had given a special financial package.

His immediate demand is visit to devastated Alibagh and a review of the extensive damage caused by
Cyclone Nisgara which battered besides Alibagh, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, causing severe damage to crops and houses.
This comes after Coronavirus had already caused financial losses to farmers.

Therefore, even as compensating the farmers in Konkan, Pravin Darekar, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, today demanded a special package for Konkan by breaking the traditional rules of natural calamities.

He had today inspected the Cyclone Nisgara caused damage in Raigad district. He held a meeting with Deputy Collector Padma Shri Banade at the Collectorate and reviewed the damage caused by the cyclone.

Following that, Darekar paid a visit to the Cyclone impacted area affected and made a survey of it.

He also demanded that a report be submitted to the government as soon as possible to inquire into the damage caused to the land, farms, houses and orchards by the cyclone.
After that, he visited the family of Dashrath Waghmare who died in Umte village due to the cyclone and consoled them and questioned them. Yesterday’s cyclone uprooted trees and blew off the roofs of buildings and houses.

Darekar also visited the NDRF team working there, reviewed the relief work being started by them and also visited Cheul, a village damaged by the cyclone which has caused severe damage to agriculture as well as betel and coconut orchards and took stock of the situation there.

He was accompanied by MLA Prashant Thakur, MLA Ramesh Patil, BJP’s Raigad District President and Mahesh Mohite, BJP Taluka President Parashuram Mhatre was also there with him on the occasion.
