Note worthily, today, Wednesday, 1st July, Lions Club Mumbai District 3231 A3 launched a special project on first day of new year of 2020 – 21. Project name ‘Mega Anaajdan Distribution to Mumbai’s Dabbawala at Malad.
While addressing all the Lions Members on this special occasion, Mr.Shashikant Modh, New District Governor of District 3231 A3 expressed his views, by first of all expressing his gratitude to all for choosing him as their DG.
While adressing the lion members, he said this occasion was extremely auspicious for him because today is Ashad Ekadashi and on this day he got the privilege to undertake such a good project in distributing Food kits to Dabbalwalas. Adding “I will never forget today’s such a wonderful movement. Our Clubs organised Blood Donation camp in many areas of Mumbai and Tarapur received a good response.
Our charity projects amid lockdown is still in continuation. “I am thankful to Deepak ji, First Vice District Governor Dr Kwaja Mudassir , 2nd Vice District Governor Hemant Sethia, Deepakji Chaudhari, Sunilji Patodia, Chandrashekharji Ghag, Meena Ramaswamy and Preity Sodha who attended this charity event and helped in organising everything.
He also said that He is very much thankful to all the clubs for their whole hearted support
.
DGÂ Shashikant further added, these dabbawalas are giving their service to us since 1958. But now, owing to this pendamic they have suffered to a great extent. we have given them 1000 food kits right now to support their family.
Deepak Chaudhari past district governor said, ” i congratulate all new team members for having done such a wonderful project on first day of taking charge, “I appreciate their efforts.
Lions have donated clothes, cycles to them in the past. These dabbawalas for the last three months are facing unemployment because of lockdown so its a good initiative by new lions team.
Hemant Sethia, 2nd Vice District Governor, reiterated that our all Clubs including Heritage Galaxy also organised Blood Donation camp and carried out other service projects on first day..and under Shashikant ji guidance we will do more charity project. I heartly congratulate all new team.
Preity Sodha, Global Service Team Head conducted the entire event along with District Chairperson Anaajdaan Lion Meena Ramaswamy.
Mr. Ritesh Andra represantative of Dabbawalas said, “we are thankful to Lions Club for their support amid this tough time and will never forget it. This is not for the first time Lions Clubs have helped, earlier also they had donated cycle for delivering food parcel for which we are once again thankful to the Lions Clubs.
Lions Clubs also supported the government by providing essential items like sanitizers and masks and tried to provide this service to as many people as possible.
Apart from this, the team also visited houses of thousands of poor families to distribute Grocery kit. We solaced them not to get themselves instilled in fear of any untoward danger since as they also have family and need to stand as part of humanity.
He highlighted that they tried to instill a ray of hope to thousands of people who were looking for one time meal and he added these things was possible altogether with the help of many other clubs like Rotary Club and so forth.
