Hundred plus residents led peaceful protest against J. Kumar ( Metro 3 Contractor ) and others today from 11 a.m. onwards at Sahar.
The underground Metro 3, project being constructed by Contractor J. Kumar for the Seepz to Airport Section has created havoc. We are not against development but daily hundred of dumpers filled with cement concrete sludge is being transported from Gate No. 4, Sahar Village, Church Pakhadi Shantinagar, etc. to some other locations.
The members of Watchdog Foundation along with residents of Sahar today had a cleanliness drive ( Swachatha Abhiyan ) as a mark of peaceful protest against J. Kumar and various development works in the vicinity of Mumbai Airport such as construction next to J W Marriot Hotel, construction next to Hotel Leela, construction of Hotels by Lemon Tree and Fariyas Hotel, opp. P & T Colony. All such construction is creating air pollution in the area as a result the residents are having breathing problems.
We swept the Sahar Airport Road and renamed the said road as Kamal Gupta Marg, after the Managing Director of J. Kumar.
The storm water drain in vicinity of Shantinagar Metro Station are filled with sluge 3 feet deep. The said drains lead to Mithi River. As such the carrying capacity of drains are severely affected this may lead to water logging and/or flooding in the area if the drains are not immediately desilted.
